Based in Samoa from 2005-2015, working as advisor to the Government of Tokelau as Education Advisor and more latterly as the Strategic Planning Advisor, leading the Planning and Monitoring Unit.

Extensive experience in education in New Zealand and within the Pacific (1982 – 2004)

  • Secondary school teacher (1981-1997)
  • Principal of Western Springs College (1993-1997)
  • Established Pacific-focused education consultancy – TKC Consultancy and then Teuila Consultancy (1998 – 2004)
  • Consultancy work in various areas in New Zealand and in Samoa (1998 – 2004):
    • Established and implemented PD programme to support aspiring Pacific teachers into senior management roles
    • Assisted with the establishment and implementation of the initial Pacific schools liaison project to promote and enhance school – Pacific family relationships
    • Initiated a concept of Pacific nations educators’ association (PNEA)
    • Served on Teachers’ Council from 2000 – 2004 when relocated to Samoa
    • Samoa Institutional Strengthening Programme (ISP) AUSAID project, specialist for school administration and management (2001- 2003)
    • Business studies curriculum and materials development consultant to the Samoa Department of Education (1999 – 2004).
