Cecilia Tse

Cecilia is a Malaysian Chinese who grew up in Malaysia and later migrated to New Zealand as a teenager. She graduated from the University of Canterbury with Honours in Law (First) and commenced her legal career at Chapman Tripp. Cecilia later moved to in-house legal roles including at The Warehouse Group before joining the public sector. After a successful career as a lawyer where she practised in both the private and public sectors in the areas of Property, Commercial and Public Law spanning over 25 years, she has recently been appointed Head of Risk and Insurance at Auckland Council. She is also co-lead Officer of the Ethnic Peoples Panel and has served in boards and councils of a number of other volunteer organisations. Cecilia’s passion is in promoting both diversity leadership and cultural competence in the community and is actively involved in a number of initiatives to promote these. A mother of two young adult daughters, she enjoys keeping fit and traveling. She is also a keen writer and her writing reflects her joint Asian and New Zealand perspectives and shared through social media.
