Of Rongowhakaata and Tongan descent, Nevak has more than 20 years’ experience working in the media. She started as a print and radio journalist for Mana magazine and RNZ and went on to become an award-winning television producer and presenter.

Nevak was the HOD Content Development at Māori Television – responsible for the commissioning, acquisition and scheduling of all the content on the network’s channels.

The mother of two and second language learner of te reo Māori served on Te Putahi Paoho for eight years – the Crown’s partner representing Māori stakeholder interests in MTS. She also held the deputy chair position on Ngā Aho Whakaari – the representative body for Māori in film in television and is a current member of AUT’s Auteur Network – a group of 20 influential thinkers who meet quarterly to discuss a range of topics.
