Olivia Shivas

Olivia Shivas is a digital producer at Stuff. With a lived experience of disability and a Chinese/Malaysian background, Olivia is passionate about empowering groups and communities that are often marginalisled.

The 24-year-old is the youngest member on the Board of Trustees at StarJam, a not-for-profit organisation providing free musical workshops for young people with disabilities. After being involved with StarJam for more than eight years, she’s honoured to give back to an organisation that has provided her with many opportunities.

In 2016, Olivia was voted onto the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s National Council as the Rangatahi Youth Representative for a two-year term. In this role, she reported to the council on behalf of the youth, organised events and supported young people with muscular dystrophy.

Olivia is a trained journalist; she has a Bachelor of Communication Studies (with Honours) from AUT and completed her post-graduate studies at the University of Helsinki in Finland. In her spare time, Olivia enjoys baking, trying out new cafes and volunteering through Radio Lollipop at Starship Children’s Hospital.
