Renay Taylor

Senior Product Developer, Thomson Reuters New Zealand Ltd

Renay is of Te Kapotai (Ngāpuhi-nui-tonu) and Pākehā descent and is a Senior Product Developer at Thomson Reuters New Zealand Ltd.  She joined Thomson Reuters in 2008 as a Portfolio Editor before becoming a Product Developer in 2010, then a Senior Product Developer in 2014.  Her role includes leading the commissioning campaign for A to Z of New Zealand Law, and the development and support of an indigenous law portfolio.  Prior to her corporate career she was a solicitor in Orewa, north of Auckland, specializing in Family Law.

Her personal and professional development in recent years has focused on gender diversity and support in the corporate workplace, and on the importance and protection of Maori aspects of law in the New Zealand legal system.  Amongst other things, in 2015 she was the first New Zealand participant to be invited to join Thomson Reuters’ global Emerging Women in Leadership program.  In addition to her own journey of learning te reo Māori she is actively commissioning and managing a collection of works written by the best legal minds, to record and develop the taonga of Māori legal jurisprudence.

Renay is passionate about encouraging and supporting Maori youth in education and is part of a tuakana mentoring program at her local high school.  In 2017 she will be involved in planning and firmly establishing the program.
